The idea for this day came after the commemorations at the 60th anniversary of the end of the Holocaust and the liberation of Nazi concentration camps. There is simply no place for such hatred in our country or anywhere else in the world, including online. Canada’s pledges include commitments to counter online antisemitism through the introduction of new legislation along with strengthening the Canada Human Rights Act and the Criminal Code. We also remember the innumerable Roma and Sinti, LGBTQ2+ persons, persons with disabilities and dissidents who were persecuted and killed by the Nazis and their collaborators in horrific crimes against humanity.
